Castle On The Hill

The well known Huddersfield landmark at Castle Hill.

This was erected in the late 1890's to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. But the site goes back over 4000 years where there once stood a Castle (hence the name)

Taken at 5:20am when the rising sun cast It's warm glow on the East and Southern flanks.

Morning Glory

There's only one thing to do when you can't sleep?

Get dressed.... And get out there.

There's no better feeling than being alone with nature as the sun rises.

Sleepy Hollow

6am and not a soul to be seen. Just the sound of the Birds dawn chorus.

You have to get up early to capture scenes like this.

Squirrel's Nuts

A regular visitor to my sisters garden.

They have become accustomed to having us humans sharing their daily routine. And it gives me the freedom to photograph them with ease.

Some regard them as pests, and they do try to raid the veg patch now and again. But they are such adorable little creatures.

Canal Life

On the way to Marsden through the Colne Valley.

I often walk along the Canal to it's journey's end.....Have a couple of pints....And catch the bus back.

Solitude gives me inner peace.

The Clough

This is the view from behind the Bulls Head at Blackmoorfoot....Where i used to work as a Chef.

Not a bad backdrop to take your mind off the rigours of kitchen life.

Throughout the changing seasons this vista always pleased me.

Resident Geese on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal at Linthwaite.

Shot with a long zoom lens so as not to disturb them.

They were just happily going about their business bathing in the sunshine.

I just adore wildlife and nature.

Over The Hill

I was on location shooting landscapes around Meltham.

I had just focused on this scene when a figure appeared over the horizon.

What a stroke of luck.

It certainly put the picture into perspective.

Sepia toned for atmosphere and impact.

Golden Rain

This waterfall is only a 5 minute walk from home.

It has been cropped to this format, as this is going to be put on canvas to hang on my wall.

I used a slow shutter speed to convey movement and give it that dreamy effect.

Far from the madding crowd

Where the Pennines start to blend in with the Peak District you will find Dovestones.

An escapism from modern life. I think we all need that from time to time.

When you have this on your doorstep.... All seems well with the world.

Stairway to Heaven

As you sit in silence you can almost hear the trees whispering.

There's something about forest's that fascinate me. All stood proud and regimental. It must be the eerie silence that does it.

It was the narrow clearing in the trees that caught my eye. It draws you into the picture.

This reminded me of a time in my life when things just seemed out of control. I'm sure we have all been there at one point in our lives.

Late afternoon Autumn sun really makes the rich colours of the door stand out. I like the warm feel to it.

The Enchanted wood

There's unrest in the forest,there's trouble with the trees. For the Maple's need more sunlight...but the Oak's ignore their plea's.

I just adore woodland...I find them magical and majestic.

Coming back to life

I rather like this image in It's altered state! and the title gives it a very atmospheric feel.

When I first took this shot it was the line of the trees that caught my eye.

I suppose I'm lucky living on the edge of beautiful countryside. I need no excuse for being out there.

Going green

Just passing away It's time in the grassland.

A little bit of photo workshop magic.

Technique needs a bit of polishing! But you get the general idea.

Breaking Dawn

The early bird catches the worm.

I don't normally rise this early, but on this occasion I'm glad I did.
